This blog is an opportunity to express, share and understand what it means to become a man to me. In this day and age, I believe that the world needs more boys to recognize who they are as people, what they believe for themselves, and how they can serve the world around them-- and in doing so, they will begin a journey to true manhood. At only sixteen I feel the the obligation to follow the footsteps of great men I admire, be it my father, my grandfathers, Martin Luther King Jr, or Muhammad Ali. At this stage in life, I wish to begin my journey to learn the true essence of manhood and hopefully discover along the way what my destiny holds for me in this pursuit.
I have been raised with the belief that you must always seek to improve yourself each day, and in doing so you will improve the world around you. In keeping with this teaching, this blog will largely focus around my development as a person as much as a man, and I've found that one of the best way to represent this is through the world of literature, a world which has the ability to describe this journey better than my own words alone. Therefore, on this site you will find works of my own as well as the lessons I have learnt from those ancient books that capture and immortalize life in its truest essence.
Let me conclude simply by saying that I believe manhood has been sold short in the modern day. Upon raising the subject of manliness or manhood I can't seem to get more than an eye roll and images of six pack casanovas who blow up everything they touch. But let me be clear when I say that this is the farthest thing from what true manhood is as I've come to understand it. And perhaps through this site, just as I glean a better understanding of what manhood is, so to will you valued reader. And so I conclude with words of wisdom from a true man who perhaps put it best, and begin my journey to manhood with you all as my witnesses.
